4th November 2012: For the past three weeks, I have monitored insect life in a flowering (Hedera helix) ivy bush. By far, the most numerous insect taking advantage of the flower nectar is the short-palped cranefly. This small insect appears robust, in spite of its delicate appearance, being active in low temperatures and in rain.
