I’m looking at bluebells mostly at the moment in Hoo Wood. I’m hearing increasing amounts of bumblebee buzzing in a particular part of the wood; it sounds like a swarm, but it’s a nest waking up. The buzzing sound is coming from deep within a thick bracken tangle and there are bumblebees flying in and out. The first Hoo Wood bluebell of 2016 now has a companion a metre away. These images are of the second bluebell. In case you are wondering, it is not my intention to photograph every bluebell in the wood. This plant is already host to its first aphid; do you see it?
