Up-close and personal
Badgers are longstanding Wilden Marsh Nature Reserve residents; every sett is occupied.
Last night, BadgerCam was up-close and personal with the Brocks outside their refurbished south marsh sett. A badger skull is placed at the entrance as if to denote the owners of the sett.

So cool! 🙂 I have a fossil badger skull from Eurasia. We have badgers here in Illinois but they are rapidly getting to be way fewer in number, unfortunately.

Thanks, Tom. Our government is culling badgers in an attempt to reduce bovine TB.

The badger seems to like celebrity in the spotlight.

I don’t think that badger knows what is going on. They are very timid creatures, Hans.

Interesting with the badger skull in the front of the den, is that a common behavior?

Badgers occasionally die in their setts. Rat hordes move in to eat the carcass. After a few years, badgers reoccupy the set and clear out old bedding and bones. I don’t thin any ritual is involved. 😉
