Follow me Today
Follow me today on a brilliant autumn day from Hoo Brook all the way down to the Wilden end of the marsh. I will be checking and setting camera traps, inspecting Middle Wood, looking in on the marsh cattle, checking out a new otter couch in the base of a riverside tree, and investigating crashing noises from the putrid, egg smelling Dark Wood. Also, view some of the best Wilden Marsh scenery.
I enjoyed that. It was good to see a bit more of the marsh. I am also interested to know about the camera traps you use. Are they triggered by motion or can they run continuously?
Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, the camera traps are triggered by movement and they do run for as long as they are switched on, or for as long as the batteries hold out. Let me know if you would like further information. I have used camera traps for more than ten years.
Thank you. This is very helpful. I am asking for my wife in fact. She is an artist wanting to record the affect of weather on her work – she works with clay. I wonder what sort of quality the camera gives. Do you have any advice on models I could start looking at. Thank you
I can only comment on the use of camera-traps for nature photography. I use https://shop.naturespy.org/product/2015-bushnell-natureview-hd-live-view-119740/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9PLRwJGd7QIVkOvtCh28rg1KEAQYASABEgIZ1vD_BwE
Would timelapse photography be more appropriate for recording weathering of your wife’s clay artwork?
We have thought about that but video would be better cos she wants to capture the action of weathering as it happens – heavy rain on the unforced clay and that kind of thing. We get plenty of it here in Wales and often at night. Thanks for the info. It’s a good starter for further research.
Thank you for the tour.
You are very welcome, Tom.
Well that certainly offers great insight to your environment Michael, why not take a GPS location using either What Three Words or the Photographers Ephemeris – you would be able to tag the locations by date and location (also add notes) may cut costs
I’m glad you like the video, Scott. Yes, that’s a good idea.
I love this, particularly the sound of footsteps in the mud, very evocative! You really don’t need music, the natural sounds are wonderful enough!
Thanks, Cathy. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. 🙂
I appreciated the hike with you, a real jungle in some places. In addition, I did not have to carry as heavy a pack as you.
I’m glad you found the video interesting, Hans. I like to carry my lunch, snacks and drinks along with me. 😉
Very enjoyable, especially without the bugs and bad smells! I agree with Cathy about the sound of your footsteps adding to the ambience. I would not want to be the one falling down out there!
Thanks, Ellen. There are many places on the marsh where it is not a good idea to stand in one place for too long. 🙂
I can feel your boots getting pulled down 😁
