LIBELLULA FULVA
Mike Averill writes about the rare skimmer Libellula fulva he photographed while checking the water levels on Wilden Marsh yesterday: “The scarce chaser that Brett Westwood saw was still there but fully coloured now, It was un-rubbed, so he has not found a female. I was intrigued as to whether the scarce chaser could be on the River Stour, as is chemically cleaner now, so I walked upstream to the northern weir. However, despite the perfect weather conditions, no more were found; plenty of banded’s, though, including larval cases.
Female goosander on the river.”
Mike doesn’t think the Westside Girls are getting enough blog exposure, so he sends a photo of them.
Thanks for the info, Mike.
