Chirping Mating Toads

This now quiet and peaceful north marsh pond will soon be heaving with a mass of chirping, mating toads

    • On moonlit nights, the toads sing their little hearts out. The herons at the nearby heronry, and the cattle too, join in the chorus. It certainly is an event to behold. Otters, attracted by these loud concerts, dive into the pond making such loud thumping splashes that it is easy to imagine them as drumbeats.
