Dead Rat!
This dead rat blocked the track on my way back through Hoo Wood this morning; it’s a big one. It wasn’t there on hour earlier, and it’s lying at the foot of to tree housing the woodpecker chicks I posted about earlier. Spike wouldn’t have anything to do with this Rat, so he might have killed it.
If Spike did get him then he’s possibly the saviour of the woodpecker fledglings!!
Do rats climb trees?
Rats are great climbers!! You wouldn’t normally see them in a tree I know but if they thought there was a good chance of a meal they’d go for it!
I guess that’s true; after all, they are capable of climbing up most other structures.
Oh yeah!!!! I used to have a wonderful pet rat and he loved the ropes for climbing in his cage 🙂 He was also adept at climbing me to get onto my shoulder, his favourite spot!
RIP poor ratty!
I was a bit concerned that this post might upset you, Ratty.
Awwww. Death is an intrinsic part of life. Ratty should have been quicker or smarter.
All things must pass…Requiescat in pace.
Indeed! The end that follows a beginning can arrive unannounced.
