A wasp in January?!/? We’ve had a couple of wasps in the house recently – I suspect they were hibernating either in the wood brought in for fire or in onions brought in from the woodshed where they over winter
There are a few wasp queens about at the moment. With the unseasonably warm weather we have been having lately, the queens think it’s spring; some will fly when the sun shines and the air temperature rises. They don’t fly very quickly, though, and they rest a lot. When the air temperature drops quickly, the queen can get trapped at her resting place.
