This evening, my attention being fully focused on keeping upright when negotiating the steep muddy slope leading to Hoo Brook Pasture gate, I heard a noise from above and glanced up. A huge Harris hawk was swooping down from a tree right in front of me. I panicked! My feet slipped from under me, and I fell backwards. The hawk came to within a few feet of my head before it began to gain height. It flew off across the corral towards Hoo Wood. This was one of those times when life goes into slow motion.
This is not the first time the hawk has scared the living daylight out of me.
