Funny thing I was in the garden tonight and I was watching two quite smallish gardens spiders. And for the first time I saw the male doing the ‘semaphore thing’ and signalling to the female. Unfortunately, she was more concerned about my torch and slowly legged it into a crevice. Meanwhile, jack-the-lad was still dancing away merrily not realising that his bird had slipped away. Once he realised he was alone he sloped off in her general direction.
