There is a good crop of common earth ball fungi in Hoo Wood at the moment.

Are these edible?
Puff balls good; earth balls bad, Alex.
I used to fear these as a kid after poking one with a stick and having it shoot spores all over the place. Something I didn’t anticipate… I recall being good and scared for the better part of the day!
I hope that you no longer fear earth balls.
Nope…and I know not to poke with sticks!!
