All is not as it seems!

This had me baffled early this morning. It is a lot clearer in the images than it was in real life. I thought I was looking at a deformed month hiding under a leaf. The spider’s extremities blend in so well with the old dried leaf that they appear to be one entity. It was only when I used the camera display screen to zoom in, that I realised what it was.
If only she’d kept her legs tucked in, you might never have spotted her.
I think it was the overall mask-like appearance that attracted my attention. The dried and curled leaf is the spider’s home: living on, sheltering under, and moving around with it. She lowers and raises her home from leaf to leaf on a silken thread.
