You will have to learn to appreciate insects, Vicki, particularly if you are following this blog. 🙂 The reason there are so many insect shots lately, is that they are easier to find; the marsh vegetation is very high at the moment, and the ground water level low.
Love the first photo. Nice to see the insect without distracting bits and not too close (’cause I don’t like creepy crawlies much).

It’s a bush cricket, Alastair! They are supposed to look like a bush: leaves and leaf stalks. 🙂
That will explain it then … oops
It has probably taken the bush cricket millions of years to develop that brown stripe down its back. :d
