I think this is commonly known as a garden spider.
A few summers ago there was a large beautiful spider like this right along the garden path. I enjoyed checking in on it everyday. It was gone the first day my kids returned to school. I was ecstatic about school beginning and sad to see the spider gone. (: Beautiful picture as always Mike.
Almost looks like little diamonds on its back.
It is a very small spider, Vicky: 1.5 mm long.
